Ashtanga Yoga is an athletic practice from Mysore, India that was designed to purify the body, detoxifying the muscles and organs by creating internal heat. In this 90 minute workshop we will learn the opening Ashtanga chant, a set series of postures (asanas) that flow from one pose to the next linked with the inflow and outflow of breath (pranayama). This is an introductory class, albeit athletic, this workshop is appropriate for all individuals who are considered to be healthy enough for physical activity. The cumulative effect of this meditative practice allows the body and to become strong, flexible, calm, centered and focused.
